An Antique Dresser Turned Media Console

I picked this antique low chest and a matching tall chest up from a friend a few weeks ago. I haven't started the tall one yet, mostly because they each have about eight layers of paint on them, and it takes forever to sand the tops and prep the cases.
Well worth the effort though! Look at the walnut that was hiding under all the paint! It's flawless! And to think, it's been covered in paint for at least seventy five years!
I refinished this piece custom for a client, sanding, staining and sealing the top, sanding the case and painting it in Benjamin Moore's 'Whale Gray; and finally replacing the damaged lower drawer with a shelf. I used tulip poplar for the shelf as it's the secondary wood of the top and so matches nicely. We left the original casters and pulls to keep the antique old world feel of the piece.
